Doctor of Education in Kinesiology (Online), Ed.D.

Program Structure

The Ed.D. in Kinesiology (online) is an interdisciplinary degree program specifically for practicing professionals with a minimum of three years’ professional experience in Kinesiology or related fields, and desire a doctorate focused on scholarship and professional practice in leadership, advocacy and teaching.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

All students begin the program in the Fall semester and move through the program as a cohort, working in learning communities. Students take two courses (six credits) each semester and summer over three years and complete their dissertation in the fourth year.

REQUIRED CAMPUS VISITS

Students are required to visit campus three times over the course of the program. These visits allow students to connect with their peers, meet UNC Greensboro faculty, and fulfill their residency requirement.

  • Orientation (Summer prior to Year 1 coursework; 3 day)
    • Orientation dates: June 10-12, 2024
  • Dissertation proposal (Year 3 Spring; 3-5 day)
  • Dissertation showcase (Year 4 Spring; 3 days)

APPLICATION AND ADMISSION

In addition to the application materials required by The Graduate School, applicants must submit supplementary application materials required by the department.

Applications are reviewed in the spring for fall admission. The application deadline to receive full consideration for admission is January 15; however, applications will be accepted through mid-April.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

The Ed.D. in KIN requires 48 credit hours: 36 hours of coursework and 12 hours of dissertation. Of the required credit hours, a minimum of 24 hours must be completed in KIN, excluding dissertation hours.
