About
The Department of Kinesiology is one of eight departments and two programs within the School of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) at UNCG. The shared mission within HHS is to enhance the health and well-being of the people of the state, region, and nation through excellence in teaching, research, and service.

ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT AND PROGRAMS
Undergraduate students are prepared as professionals focused on human movement with the goals of increasing physical activity, improving physical performance, and enhancing health and well-being across the lifespan.
MISSION
The shared mission within HHS is to enhance the health and well-being of the people of the state, region, and nation through excellence in teaching, research, and service.

DEPARTMENT HISTORY
As the department evolved and grew with the university, our name changed, but our mission to promote education in and instruction of physical health remained at our core.
INCLUSIVE EXCELLENCE
The department’s faculty and staff also recognize that its goals are entwined with broader social and environmental factors and addressing historical barriers to access. Through our work as teachers, researchers, and community members, we aim to renounce all forms of unjust discrimination.

SHE CAN WE CAN
For women in the US, physical activity has always been political. As part of UNCG’s “She Can, We Can” series coinciding with the women’s suffrage centennial, we developed the timeline below to highlight the history of women’s physical activity and activism at UNCG within the broader US sociopolitical context.
