M.S. in Athletic Training (M.S.A.T.)

The Department of Kinesiology offers a Master of Science in Athletic Training (M.S.A.T.) degree that is designed to prepare persons to sit for the  Board of Certification (BOC) Examination and earn the credentials as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC).

The 48 credit hour MSAT has been fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) since 2003 making it the oldest Professional Masters program in North Carolina, and one of the oldest in the country!

After UNCG

Students who graduate with an MSAT degree and who have passed the BOC examination to obtain the ATC credential will obtain jobs as athletic trainers in a variety of patient settings.  The following is a list of settings where alumni currently work: colleges, universities, high schools, sports medicine clinics, physician’s offices, pediatric hospitals, sport performance gyms, dance companies, professional sports, and the military.
