The EdD in Kinesiology at UNCG is an online, interdisciplinary, professional degree program specifically designed for practicing professionals who have a minimum of three years of professional experience and desire a doctorate that is focused on professional scholarship and practice (leadership, advocacy, and teaching) in Kinesiology.
Vision
The Vision of the EdD Program is to prepare professionals at the highest level of excellence who are competent in the creation, synthesis, interpretation, and professional application of knowledge in leadership, advocacy, and teaching, and who will serve as stewards in the field of kinesiology.
Mission
The Mission of the EdD in KIN is to engage practicing KIN professionals in the scholarship of application, teaching, and engagement, and is intended to encourage students to address current issues in the field from an applied, interdisciplinary perspective and to develop action-oriented leaders in kinesiology.
Through the integration and application of interdisciplinary knowledge that links theory with practice, students will address current issues, and demonstrate competencies for professional practice in kinesiology. Through these experiences, graduates will advance as scholars, leaders, advocates and teachers in kinesiology.
This mission will be accomplished over the course of four years through student engagement in collaborative learning communities established around shared professional goals and intended uniquely to facilitate learning, grow professional networks, and apply knowledge to professional practice.
Program Goals
EdD in KIN graduates will:
1) Integrate interdisciplinary knowledge to link theory with practice;
2) Apply interdisciplinary knowledge to enhance professional practice;
3) Demonstrate competencies for professional practice (e.g. leadership, advocacy, teaching).
