EdD in KIN faculty share their book club experience at the 2021 NAKHE Virtual Conference

The 2021 NAKHE Conference was held virtually on January 6-9, 2021. This year’s conference theme was “Supporting Faculty through Effective Leadership: The Work Beyond the Work.” It was focused on legal and ethical aspects of the work environment, open communication between faculty and administrators, and understanding inclusive excellence.

And our UNCG KIN faculty members, Dr. DeAnne D. Brooks, Dr. Michael A. Hemphill, and Dr. Erin J. Reifsteck did a presentation titled, “Readings and Reflections: Our Experiences Developing a Book Club around an Anti-racist Agenda in our Kinesiology Depmartment” at the 2021 NAKHE Conference. In the presentation, they shared the background information of creating the book club, their own experiences of facilitating it, and the lessons learned from those experiences. They emphasized the importance of addressing racial equity among faculties in higher education.

We are lucky to have Dr. Brooks, Dr. Hemphill, and Dr. Reifsteck as faculty members in our EdD in KIN program. For more information on the EdD in KIN program click here.
